Dr. Yasir Abbasi

Chair and Founding Trustee

Dr Yasir Abbasi is a consultant psychiatrist with dual expertise in adult and substance misuse psychiatry. During his extensive career of being a consultant psychiatrist, Dr Abbasi has gone on to contribute towards the development of addiction services in England and UAE, academia and increased awareness about mental health and addiction internationally.
He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and has spoken at various national and international scientific conferences across the world, spanning from UK, Europe, USA, UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bosnia & Hercegovina and Pakistan. He has written for national British newspapers and has been interviewed, quoted and published by numerous print and electronic media outlets across the world including BBC, ITV, independent, Guardian newspaper, Times USA etc.
Dr Abbasi set up the Painkiller Addiction Information Network (PAIN) charity in 2016 which was the only charity at that time in the UK raising awareness about painkiller addiction and supported the government to order a review into it. He continues to raise the profile and increases awareness about Opioid Analgesic Dependence (OAD) across the world.
Dr Abbasi was given the doctor of the year award by Yorkshire Evening Post in 2013. He was short listed by the Royal College of Psychiatrist in 2017 for the communicator of the year award across United Kingdom. In December 2017 he was short listed by health finance management association as HSJ doctor of the year award. In 2023, he got the Consultant of the year award by the RCPsych North west division.


Vicky Edwards

Trustee PAIN Charity

Vicky is an occupational psychologist working within the NHS and has an interest in supporting colleagues to be the best they can be and have great days at work. This involves taking a holistic view of people, including how the complex and demanding system and environment they work in impacts on their thinking and wellbeing.
As part of her role, Vicky coaches and supports individuals and teams through the process and stages of change. Working to principles of building individual confidence and capability, looking to support a change in mindset and behaviours, Vicky acts as a catalyst to speed up change. Vicky leads on several transformational projects to improve culture and working life in the NHS trust she is based in.


Jason Foster

Jason C. Foster – Trustee, Painkiller Addiction Information Network

Jason has held leading roles in consulting, healthcare and technology companies for over 20 years in the US, UK and Europe. Jason is currently CEO and Executive Director for Ori Biotech, a cell and gene therapy manufacturing technology start-up with offices in London and New Jersey who raised a $100M Series B funding round in December 2022.
Jason also serves as a Non-Executive Director of London-based healthtech start-ups gripAble and Credentially, as well as Auxita Pty, an Australian healthcare data platform.
As the Managing Director of Health Equity Consulting, he has advised PE/VC funds, family offices, accelerators and healthTech start-ups.


Albert Kemp FCII

Trustee, Painkiller Addiction Information Network

I am retired having spent my entire working life of 40+ years within the insurance industry culminating as the Chief Executive and Chairman of a leading Underwriting Agency within the event industry.
My client base included those within the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australasia: which meant travel to over 50 countries.
I am a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Past President of the Insurance Industry of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, as well as a Fellow of the City of London (aka a Citizen of London).
My interests include the chairmanship, presidency, secretaryship or committee membership of several associations or clubs. I was a founder and chairman of my local running club for over 20 years and am currently the president.
My special interest is following the development of my grandsons and am honoured to be a trustee of the PAIN Charity and am happy to support this valuable and much needed institution.
